Just a few days ago, I passed by the Laduree shop in New York City (which just opened). I haven't had a chance to go in and buy some of their notorious macaroons! Laduree is a very famous french pastry shop mostly known for their macaroons. Macaroons are so delicious and not to mention very colorful! Oh how I love color and macarrons! I was very inspired by the presentations and random images of macaroons, as well as images from Laduree, that I decided to make a pattern out of them.
These were some of the pictures which inspired me:
This is the pattern I created in 2 different color ways (all created on Adobe Photoshop) :
The second project in my integrated studio course is to redesign the classic white shirt. We had to purchase a white shirt and drape new designs with it. This time, we began with draping instead of sketching as usual. This is definitely my favorite method of designing a new collection because I find it easier to understand how the garment will look three dimensionally instead of a sketch or drawing. I decided to drape without cutting the shirt.
What inspired me to create and design these drapes was a glass wall located in one of my classrooms at Parsons. I was very inspired the the shapes created inside each block. Here is a picture of the wall:
I was very inspired by this garment from the Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 collection. I find the fabric quality and texture so amazing, so I created this color story from this fabric. For my Visual Communication class at Parsons, I created these stripes and plaids patterns from this color palette.
One of my favorite trends for Spring 2012... Peplums! :) Totally 50s inspired and beautifully defines a woman's waist and body shape. What women doesn't like that?
The Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 Collection was beyond amazing!! Sarah Burton did an exceptional job. She could have not done it any better. Just take a look! I love the fabrics, the colors of the whole collection as well as the 50s fitted silhouette look, the detailed beaded work, the peplum styles... I mean there's so much to love about this collection! This collection was perfection from head to toe.
